Why vitamin C shouldn’t be alone
Vitamin C was one of the first nutrients to be taken as a supplement. However, it was taken in a form called ascorbic acid and this is the form found in most products still today. Vitamin C and ascorbic acid are often used interchangeably but they actually describe different forms.
Ascorbic acid is the isolated form, this is cheap to manufacture but poorly absorbed by the body. Vitamin C is the complete form, it contains ascorbic acid but it is accompanied with many other constituents such as bioflavonoids, proteins, and carbohydrates.
These natural cofactors also offer health giving properties.
