Being Vegan is not a dietary choice or a nutritional preference. 

It is an AWAKENING, a realisation of the needless cruelty and suffering 

inflicted on innocent creatures. 

ANIMALS

Pets are a significant part of our lives. We love them, take care of them, find comfort in their affections and unconditional love, and bitterly mourn their loss.

Although there is no difference between cats or dogs and cows or pigs, society has been brainwashed over thousands of years into making an imaginary distinction, thus justifying the torture, exploitation and killing of animals for food, clothing and other products.

Sadly, many people still choose to turn the other way and pretend not to know the conditions under which animals live and die, fear and despair before the end.

Every vegan saves around 200 animals each year. Each one of us can make a difference.

THE PLANET AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Meat and Dairy production is wasteful, causes enormous amounts of pollution, and is one of the biggest causes of climate change.

70% of the world’s grain that could be consumed by humans is fed to livestock each year and about 85% of the world’s farmland is devoted to raising animals for food.

Deforestation, pollution and extinction of marine life limits the Earth’s capacity to produce food for human consumption.

Hundreds of millions of people have no access to clean water, due to drought or mismanagement of water sources. While livestock drink more fresh water than anything else, they are also one of the largest polluters. It takes 200 times more water to raise a pound of beef than it does to raise a pound of plant foods.

Raising livestock usually leads to deforestation, habitat loss and species extinction, and accelerates climate change.

Livestock causes more air pollution than all the cars, buses, planes, trains and ships in the world combined.  Plants clean the air.

Adopting a vegan diet is one of the most effective ways to participate in the fight against climate change.

HEALTH

Research shows that vegan diets can help reduce blood pressure, cholesterol, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and some types of cancer.

Additionally, the World Health Organisation reports on the increased risks of colorectal cancer from regular red meat and processed meat consumption.

The British Dietetic Association and the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics both recognise that vegan diets are suitable for people of all ages and stages of life.

All the nutrients you need are provided by a vegan diet – including protein.

In fact, most vegans generally pay more attention to their dietary requirements, making a conscious effort to get everything they need.

On the other hand, many meat eaters generally don’t bother to secure the necessary nutrients and vitamins available in fresh fruit, vegetables, pulses, beans, grains and other foods which are the basis of a vegan diet.

Going vegan will make you happier, healthier, more energized, and might even save your life.

So the question isn’t “why vegan” but

“WHY NOT VEGAN?”
